– As of March 4, the U.S. has imposed 25% tariffs on imports from Canada and Mexico, and increased tariffs on Chinese goods to 20%. These measures include tariffs on peanut products.
Canada’s Response
– Canada is imposing 25% tariffs on U.S. peanut butter, prepared peanuts, and crude peanut oil. Additional tariffs on more U.S. agricultural products are under consideration.
China’s Response
– China has announced a 10% tariff on U.S. processed peanut products.
No exemptions will be granted, and shipments departing before March 10 may be temporarily exempt.
Mexico’s Upcoming Retaliation
– Mexico will announce its response on March 9, with expectations of new tariffs affecting peanut imports.
